Prakash Saput
Prakash Saput is widely recognized in Nepal for his multifaceted contributions as a singer, songwriter, and performer, especially within the folk genre. His work often reflects strong social and political commentary, which has helped him build a dedicated audience. His musical journey began in the early 2010s, with initial releases such as Musu Musu Na Hasa, a light folk track that introduced his style. Over time, he shifted toward more socially driven content, gaining nationwide attention with the release of Bola Maya in 2018—a breakthrough that significantly elevated his career. Following this success, Saput consistently produced impactful music addressing real-life issues. Some of his most notable works include Galbandi Chyatiyo, Phuteka Chura, Mero Pani Haina Ra Yo Desh, Kura Bujhnu Parcha, Pir, and Sakambari. These songs further solidified his reputation as an artist who uses music as a medium for awareness and storytelling. Prakash Saput is a versatile force in the Nepali entertainment industry who successfully transitioned from a folk-music phenomenon to a record-breaking actor. He made his official silver-screen debut in the 2023 social drama "Pardeshi 2," directed by Narayan Rayamajhi, which explored the emotional struggles of the Nepali diaspora. However, his most significant cinematic milestone came with the 2024 film "Purna Bahadur ko Sarangi," where his portrayal of a struggling Gandharba father not only received immense critical acclaim but also led the film to become the highest-grossing Nepali movie of all time. His filmography continues to expand rapidly with projects like the 2025 release "Basanta" directed and written by himself.
