She made her television debut in 1977 with the ERT comedy series "Thomas at Colonus" directed by Dimitris Nikolaidis and Vasilis Vlachodimitropoulos alongside Nikos Papanastasiou, Elena Nathanael and Vasilis Tsivilikas, while in the same year she appeared in another ERT social series "The Pantheons" directed by Vasilis Georgiadis alongside Katia Dandoulaki, Angelos Antonopoulos, Lykourgos Kallergis and Phaedonas Georgitsis. She also appeared in television theatrical performances, as part of the show "Monday's Theatre" that aired on ERT in the 1970s and 1980s. Sofia Roumbou was the wife of cinematographer and editor Nikos Kavoukidis, with whom she had a daughter, also an actress, Maria Kavoukidou.
